Devlog 10: The Final Showdown

Introduction

Hey everybody, we are back for one last devlog where we will go over the final changes leading up to our project's end

Lets start off with the:

Art

This week had a big focus on tying all our existing game features together with the appropriate design

For example, our end screen got a bit of an overhaul:

For the keen eye, the end menu now has working buttons!

In the main menu, some things have changed:

The game title is now nicely on display at the top of the bar.

We also have a bartender now! He will be making us drinks while we settle our disputes outside.

In hat selection, the hat types now display proper stats, so you can pick a character that fits your playstyle!

We also added some snow effects to the window and also to the main scene:

Our Real-time VFX also made it in! Now shooting someone gives you some more feedback:

As you can see, we also added a moving UI element for reloading and health to better relay crucial info to the player

The game UI had a slight color rebalance regarding the outlines, out with the pitch black, in with the soft colors!

A small ice dust VFX element was also added for when you skid on the ice.

Last but not least, ice cowboy

With that, lets move on to:

Development

A lot of play testing was done this week to iron out what works and what doesn't

Bump is no longer a thing. Movement is now fully done through the left stick

The character now periodically gets bumped when indicating the movement direction

This should pull the focus away from movement and more towards aiming, which makes up a bigger part of our gameplay.

You can also see the health- and ammo bar we added to inform the player of their available resources!

The end menu works now too.

A lot of sounds were added too, however this would be a bit hard to show in a devlog, check out the build if you can!

Controller rumble was added when preforming important actions (such as getting eliminated).

Spawns were made random too, so spawn camping should be less of an issue.

Finally, a lot of fixes were added, some big, some small

We had a lot of fun over the past 12 weeks. We hope you had as much fun as we did

Thank you all!
